... to that precious day off! Yes... it's true... it's already Wednesday, and Saturday awaits right around the corner from it. I am still having a tough time believing just how fast the days go by here. It is a ridiculous pace! It seems like hours pass by like minutes... days like hours... etc. I don't even think my days off go by as fast as the days I work, which is the complete opposite of normal! LOL
Today is the first Wednesday that we switched the schedule a little... it doesn't really change the amount of time I sit in the 2 locations... just the time of day. I am feeling indifferent about it honestly. It's no biggie either way. I have enough snacks with me to amount to a midday meal, but I'll still go eat between 3 and 4 during my hour I have before I sit in the command post for the last 3 hours of the day. The way I see it... it's most likely going to make the day go by that much faster. I only have one hour until my shift on scope starts. Before you know it... it will be 7 o'clock... and I'll be rolling out the door.
It is still like Groundhog Day, though. There is very little change from day to day or week to week. I do think that the routine is helpful, but it's very easy to get complacent within that routine if you're not careful. There are things that just become automatic that you do on a daily basis without hardly putting the slightest bit of thought into them. Waking up in the morning, however, is not one of them! LOL I ALWAYS want more sleep when I roll out of bed prior to 5 AM. Hell, most days I want more sleep on the days I sleep in till 8 or 9, and that's after going to sleep at 11 at the absolute latest! I've never really been a morning person to begin with, so I'm not really surprised that I'm often tired and longing for more sleep regardless of the time I awaken. *yawn*
Nonetheless, it is a pretty good day for a Wednesday in the desert land of Iraq. 7 1/2 weeks to go... and there's no sign of it slowing down anytime soon. We're gaining on February here... the last FULL month of the deployment! Now... THAT is a GREAT feeling!!! :)
Peace, Love, and Poker
